We talked about how to check your credit score and making sure the information on your credit report is up to date and accurate. Next, identify what parts of your credit score needs improvement, whether it's a high credit usage, identify theft or a default on your loan. Identifying these problems on your credit report and establishing a plan to correct them is key to obtaining the credit score that you want.

A few tips Dr. Nicole Garner-Scott & Kadarian Stewart suggested were opening a secured credit card with your local bank and using that card to improve your credit. They also suggested setting up payment alerts on your phone to remind you when your next payments are due, so you never miss a payment. Also, one thing that most people forget to do is to go through their credit reports with a fine tooth comb to make sure that all of their information is up-to-date and accurate.
